Golf club trade in value calculator

This golf club trade in value calculator compares a trade-in offer with selling your clubs privately. Trading in is quick, and selling pays more. Enter both figures with the fees and bonuses, and see what each route really leaves in your pocket.

Trade-in total = offer × (1 + credit bonus)

Private sale = price − selling fee − postage

Fig. 1. Compare the two totals, not the two headline prices.

What is golf club trade in value?

Golf club trade in value is the amount a retailer will give you for your used clubs, usually as credit towards new ones. It is always lower than the price another golfer would pay, because the shop has to clean the club, guarantee it and sell it on at a profit. In return you are paid at once, with no photographs, messages or parcels.

    1. Enter the trade-in offer from the retailer.
    2. Enter any store credit bonus as a percentage, or 0 if you are paid in cash.
    3. Enter the price you could sell the club for privately.
    4. Enter the selling fee and the cost of postage.

Golf club trade in value formula

    Trade-in total = trade-in offer × (1 + credit bonus)

Private sale total = sale price − selling fee − postage

Compare the two totals, not the two headline prices. A credit bonus can close most of the gap, and marketplace fees take more than most sellers expect.

Golf club trade in value example

A shop offers 180 for your driver, with a 10% bonus if you take store credit: 180 × 1.10 = 198. A private buyer would pay 300, but the marketplace takes 13% and postage costs 20: 300 − 39 − 20 = 241. Selling privately leaves you 43 better off. The sale would have to drop below 251 before the trade-in wins.

How to estimate trade in value without a quote

Estimate the resale price with the golf club value calculator, then get quotes from two or three retailers. Offers commonly land between half and two-thirds of the private sale price, and vary a good deal between shops for the same club.

Golf club trade in value calculator FAQs

How do I find the trade in value of my golf clubs?

Most large golf retailers and several online resellers give instant trade-in quotes by model and condition. Enter the quote in the golf club trade in value calculator above to compare it with a private sale.

Is it better to trade in golf clubs or sell them?

Selling usually leaves more money once the sums are done, especially for popular recent models. Trading in makes sense for older or lower-value clubs, where fees and postage eat most of the difference.

What lowers golf club trade in value?

Worn grooves and faces, dents or sky marks on the crown, rust, shafts that have been cut down or swapped, and missing headcovers or adjustment tools. Counterfeit clubs are refused outright.

Can I trade in golf clubs for cash?

Some retailers pay cash, but the offer is normally lower than the store credit value. Set the bonus to 0 in the calculator to compare a cash offer.
