WGT golf calculator

This WGT golf calculator does the shot arithmetic for WGT Golf. The game gives you a yardage, an elevation and a wind arrow, then leaves the sums to you. Enter them here for the plays-like distance, the swing power to use and how far to move the aim marker.

Power = plays-like distance ÷ full distance of the club

Plays-like distance = yardage + elevation ÷ 3 + wind adjustment

What is a WGT golf calculator?

A WGT golf calculator is a shot helper for WGT Golf, the online golf game. It takes the numbers shown on screen before each shot and works out how hard to swing. Players who adjust the yardage for wind and elevation before they swing hit far more greens.

How to use the WGT golf calculator

    1. Enter the full distance of the club you have selected.
    2. Enter the distance to the pin.
    3. Enter the elevation in feet, plus for uphill and minus for downhill.
    4. Enter the wind speed and choose which way the wind arrow points.
    5. Read the swing power percentage and the aim.

    WGT golf shot formula

    Plays-like distance = distance + elevation ÷ 3 + wind adjustment

Swing power = plays-like distance ÷ full distance of the club

Elevation is divided by three to turn feet into yards. The wind is split into the part blowing along the shot, which changes the distance, and the part blowing across it, which sets the aim. A wind from behind counts at half strength.

    WGT golf calculation example

You have a 160-yard club, 142 yards to the pin, 9 feet uphill, and an 8 mph wind straight at you. Elevation adds 3 yards. The wind adds 8% of 142, which is 11.4 yards. The shot plays 156.4 yards, so the swing power is 156.4 ÷ 160 = 98%.

How to tune the WGT wind calculator to your clubs

Starter clubs and basic balls are pushed around by the wind more than top-tier sets. Begin with a wind effect of 1% per mph. If your shots into the wind keep coming up short, raise it. If they fly long, lower it. A few rounds of notes will settle the number for each club.

    WGT golf calculator FAQs

How do you calculate wind in WGT Golf?

Add about 1% of the distance for each mph of headwind and take off half that for a tailwind. The WGT golf calculator above also works out the crosswind aim.

How do you calculate elevation in WGT Golf?

Divide the elevation in feet by three and add it to the yardage for an uphill shot, or subtract it for a downhill shot.

Is this an official WGT calculator?

No. It is an independent tool for players and is not connected with WGT Golf or Topgolf. It uses only the numbers the game shows you on screen.

Does the WGT golf calculator work for putting?

No. Putts in the game depend on green speed and the slope shown by the moving dots, which need a different method.
